The photograph must be recent and in colour, with the face clearly visible and not covered by a cap, spectacles or sunglasses. The signature image must keep a height-to-width ratio of 1:R where R is between 2.75 and 3.75, and the signature should fill most of the cropped frame. Registration through a verified DigiLocker account is mandatory for Indian nationals. Always follow the final instructions shown on the GOAPS portal. - For the photo, open the GATE photo preset, upload a clear recent colour photo with a white background and download the JPG.
- For the signature, sign in black or dark-blue ink on plain white paper, photograph/scan it clearly, then open the GATE signature preset.
- Check the downloaded sizes (photo up to 600 KB, signature up to 300 KB), then upload them on the official GOAPS portal and finish payment before the deadline.
What if I miss the 5 October date?
You can still apply in the extended window till 12 October 2026, but a late fee applies. The photo and signature rules stay the same, so keep both files ready either way.
Is DigiLocker compulsory for GATE 2027?
Yes. GATE 2027 registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals, and the organisers advise keeping the same verified DigiLocker account active after submission.
